Union City is a
bedroom town in southern Alameda county. It won All-American
City Award in 1999 - one of ten awarded in the nation. The
city is well-run and innovative in solving problems and is moving
forward.
The city, population 67,240,
has many new homes, many children and their schools enjoy strong
community support. The 1990 census showed that 3 of every 10
residents were under age 18. Logan High School, which has
probably the largest enrollment of any high school in Northern
California (about 4300) has a reputation for hard work and close
attention to academics. Logan sends many kids to top
universities and boasts one of the top athletic programs in the
state.
Overall crime
rate is low suburban average. There is a 10pm curfew for kids
under 18. Union City also offers 17 parks, a senior center and
